The July 08 issue of Custom Builder magazine features an article titled “Fire and Water” about the increased demand for outdoor living areas in the custom home market.

In fact, according to the NAHB, 65% of luxury home buyers expect outdoor features integrated into their homes. DBS Landscape Designer, Paul Wrona, is referenced in this article and shares his insight on weaving water and fire into outdoor living concepts.

Designs By Sundown named 2008 South Metro Denver Small Business of the Year

Designs By Sundown is pleased to announce the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce has presented the company with the 2008 Small Business of the Year Award.

The record number of nominees were evaluated in five key areas: leadership and management ability, innovation, financial performance, prospects for sustained success, and community involvement. The banquet took place at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center on Thursday, May 22nd, with more than 430 business leaders, guests and members represented.

John Brackney, President of the Chamber, presented Michael Hommel, founder and owner of Designs By Sundown, with the award. Michael graciously accepted the award on behalf of his company and employees. “We have an incredible group of individuals who give 110 percent every day for us.”

More than thirty Designs By Sundown employees attended the luncheon and anxiously awaited the opening of the envelope and was ecstatic to hear… and the winner is Designs By Sundown.

Prior to announcing the winner of the Small Business of the Year, the audience was treated to a video presentation of the four finalists outlining their business philosophies and goals. After the presentation of the award, the Chamber Ensemble serenaded the audience with a specially re-written version of Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown.”

“Elemental Design” is the title of an article appearing in the April/May 2008 premier issue of Housetrends magazine featuring a Designs By Sundown landscape project in Littleton, Colorado.

This project emphasizes the use of the four natural elements of the ancient world- earth, air, water and fire, to blend the perfect landscape.

Award-Winning project featured in national trade publication, American Nurseryman

An award-winning project designed and constructed by Designs By Sundown was featured in the March, 2008, national trade publication, American Nurseryman.

The article titled, “Fit for a Castle” leads readers through the entire landscape renovation process that occured on this property in Castle Pines Village, Colorado. This project was presented with an Excellence In Landscape award in 2008 by The Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC).
